beforeisleep replied to your post: This fucking pissed me off today

i read the whole story. she posted it as a facebook status. he logged in as the family dog (LOL I KNOW) to upload some photos and saw it. wasn’t exactly intruding.

Just the fact that she felt the need to block her own father disturbs me, though. I rewatched it again, and I guess I misunderstood a little. He apparently bought $130 software for her use, not blocking software. I misheard that, and I understand why the father is soo upset. But even still, the whole thing is just disturbing and saddening to me. This kind of parenting is similar to my dad and step mom’s style (albeit this is much more extreme) and I really think that’s why my dad and I don’t talk much anymore. When you obliterate the trust at any point in a relationship, it leaves a lasting scar. And the only thing that makes that worse is when you do stupid, rash things like this father did leaving this video. Not only is he setting a terrible example for her on how to deal with negative situation, but I can only imagine this will make her feel like she can tell her dad even less, isolating her further. When you’re a teen, a lot of your life is in flux. If nothing else, a parent should be a stable part of your life-someone you can communicate with. Idk, maybe I’m projecting my own experiences onto this situation and this girl really is just a spoiled brat who knowingly disregards her father’s support and treats him like shit. But it sounds to me like it’s a mutually disrespectful entanglement and that’s just hurtful to both sides without fixing anything.

I’m sorry this is such a long reply, this stuff just tears me up.
