This fucking pissed me off today

My friend posted THIS video to his facebook today with the caption: “I couldn’t agree with this dad more”

This is the comment I left back to him: “This dad is a fucking intrusive psychopath! Maybe if you trusted your daughter (or future children) more, they would try to live up to your expectations. And there’s something called positive reinforcement- and it’s psychologically proven to be a much better motivator than SHOOTING YOUR DAUGHTER’S LAPTOP WITH A 45. Spending 130 dollars on software to block your kid from the sites they want to go to is a great way to end up making them resent you and push them away from you as they get older. This kind of parenting is exactly the reason I don’t have a good relationship with my father and I don’t know why anyone would put their child through this. This video is a great example of how to be a terrible parent. It disgusts me that you posted this, Dakota. I always thought you’d be a kind understanding father.”

If you didn’t care to watch the whole thing, this dad pulls out his 45 pistol and unloads 9 rounds into his daughter’s laptop after telling her she owes him $130 he spent on blocking software for an angry ranting Facebook comment she left on a friend’s wall. Even minus the gun antics, this is fucking crazy. When did people stop trusting their children? All these fucking dr. phil dateline shows on now-a-days that scare parents into thinking they have to buy hundereds of dollars worth of software to monitor their kids internet activity- they’re fucking bullshit. Being an intrusive/overbearing parent is a great way to ruin your relationship with your kids and make them distrustful individuals themselves. It’s hard enough being a teenager without crazy parents. If you wanna play “big brother” go work at a prison. That’s just what I think, anyways.

**I rewatched it again, and I guess I misunderstood a little. He apparently bought $130 software for her use, not blocking software. My views are still the same though, it’s the principle of the whole thing.
